Blogging matters because of what it does for your RANKING.
How your website ranks with the search engines affects how easily your ideal clients can find you. Blogging will affect your Google ranking, your Alexa Ranking, Bing, Yahoo and more, and that makes a huge difference.
So think of it this way, imagine you have a book in one hand and a subscription to a magazine in the other.
You get the book. You read it. Now what happens to the book? It gets put on a shelf and sits there. This is what your website does if you don’t have a blog. You set up the pages on your website. The search engines index it and then it sits there. Perhaps you will add a new page or change something every now and then, but for the most part nothing changes. If nothing is changing, the search engines don’t have any reason to re-index your website.
Your site gets buried faster than a Facebook post.
So, now let’s look at the Magazine. You read it. Maybe you share it. Then next month you get the new one and you read that one too. You like the articles in it and you know there will be more coming soon, so you keep an eye out for the next issue. Blogging is like that Magazine. The search engines index each post you add. Next time you add another post, the search engines come back and index that one. Your content is growing with each post and with each post you have a new link in the search engines back to your website.
Hmmm, would you like 12 more chances for people to find you? Or how about 52 more chances? Or, 365 more chances, just by blogging?
So, let’s see where you are right now, how your website “ranks” in the scheme of things.
You can find out right now by going to http://alexa.com. Just enter your domain and Click GO.
Surprising isn’t it?
It is amazing how many websites are out there. Now, spend some time looking up the Alexa ranking of other websites you like. This will help you get a feel for the numbers and how you rank relative to others. It will help you put the numbers in perspective.
You can improve your ranking by doing some basic things like:
[bullet_block large_icon=”56.png” width=”” alignment=”center”]
- Adding SEO information to your pages and posts.
- Optimizing your images for the Search Engines.
- Incorporating Keywords in your writing.
- Using links in your writing.

By the way…These are all things I will be covering in my upcoming class.
You can get more details here. [/feature_box]
The good news is, things can improve pretty quickly. Here is a great example from someone you may know.
Last summer Google changed it’s method on ranking and Rev. Anne Presuel of DivinelyIntuitiveBusiness.com saw her Alexa Rank Tank!
It had dropped down to 2.5 million globally and 600,000 in the USA.
She was telling me this one day, and I asked if she was doing SEO on her blog posts. She wasn’t. So I walked her through how to do it and she began to go back over all her posts to add the SEO to them. (Tedious, but worth it.)
Here is her ranking today:
Now SEO isn’t the only thing that will improve your ranking, there are other things too.
But, the point I wanted to make is this…your Blog is a key ingredient to attracting more traffic to your website.
So, if you don’t know where to start…check out my live class starting March 11th…it might be just what you need to get started.
Wow. Pretty impressive! I’m liking the info you’re presenting in your blogs Sherry! Very informative. And I’m excited about the upcoming training so I can learn how to do this myself. I might even be getting excited about blogging!
Peace and blessings to you!
Jaci, I am glad you found it helpful! Looking forward to having you in the class. It will be fun…promise! 🙂
