Tonight I was reading a section in the first chapter of The Intuitive Way: The Definitive Guide to Increasing Your Awareness by Penney Peirce, that sure touched a nerve for me. She was explaining how our mind chatter can so easily get in the way when trying to connect with our intuition. It can take on so many disguises:
- Soul Bargaining – If you give me this answer I will (0r won’t) ________. (fill in the blank)
- Conditional Awareness – I only want info on good things / bad things / money things.
- Inner Skeptic – “Yes, BUT…..”
- Excersize Excuses – “I want to meditate/journal/practice, but I don’t have time.” (one of my personal favorites)
The list goes on and on. It is our subconscious getting in the way by doing it’s job too well. Its job is to help us navigate in the physical world. However, in the spiritual world it needs to be trained to sit quietly and wait.
Penney included a quote in this section from Carlos Castaneda’s Don Juan; “A warrior is aware that the world will change as soon as he stops talking to himself.”
Then it dawned on me…..I can’t LISTEN if I am Talking! (even on an energy level)
So, since I really do want to hear what my intuition has to say, I am going to pay more attention to my self talk. Why don’t you join me?
Pay attention over the next few days to how often your internal dialogue runs off unattended. Also, pay attention to what types of interference it uses. By becoming more aware of the things that get in your way, we will be able to start retraining our minds to Stop Talking and LISTEN!
Wishing you Your Intuitive Best!
